Well, it's official: Because the XBOX couldn't handle the new Elder Scrolls (Oblivion), the game has been watered down in the graphics department (Read EGM and check any 1up articles related to Elder Scrolls). GREAT! Now us PC people who could run Oblivion on full settings WHILE watching a DVD have to settle for a less than perfect edition, just because the XBOX rides the short bus to school.

Console developers, listen up: STOP making your hardware pathetically slow and praising it can do so much. Okay?! Because now you got game developers making games for PC AND Consoles, and end up dumbing down their games so that the crappy 30 frames will run smoothly on the XBOX, leaving us who can get 90+ twiddle our thumbs.

I curse the name of the XBOX. CURSE, I say.

Hah! That's some funny crap.

My XBOX couldn't even handle, Elder Scrolls III; Morrowind. It crashed multiple times leaving me very unhappy.

I agree Echo. After you're huge computer upgrade, I wouldn't know who wouldn't be pissed.

Thank goodness for this trusty computer...

All I can say is consoles can't compare to a PC, but if they didn't have something to offer, well everyone would own a PC, and no one would buy consoles. The consoles offer fairly decent hardware for comprable prices. If you are willing to dump alot of money into a PC to make it veeerrrryy sweet, then thats cool. But you shouldn't put down the consoles, their doing the best they can, and on a personal note, I do love Halo.

But why aren't they releasing a higher end version for the PC?

Because that would escentialy be releasing two different games - the changes are that big. It's a complete re-write in the code and watering down of graphics for the CrapBox.

I'm sure a month or so after the release, they'll put out an "Uber Graphics" patch for the PC gamers.

I see. I just assumed(not knowing anything on the subject) that there was a large flashing button somewhere that the designers can click for high quality, medium quality, and low quality.

You are right in one aspect of your complaints. Elder Scrolls can't be handled on the orignal xbox. That is the one that is getting dumbed down. The one for the pc and teh 360 is staying the same. The reason this comes about is because many people still own the orignal xbox. I am an avid gamer through and through. I play pc along with console, and love them both. They each have their own pluses and minuses. Don't worry the new elder scrolls game will be the polished, non chopped down version that all you graphic happy rpg nuts are hoping for.

PS: I know this because i keep up to date with all the gaming news, and if there is a rebutal i have read the egm of this month. As well as the fact that the game was built for the 360 and the pc. Make sure before you say that something sucks that you get all the details.

I got the details - it's the 360 version that is being dumbed down because of frame-rate issues, and because of that, the PC version is nerfed too. There IS no original XBOX version - it's 360 and PC only.

That's my position on it. Rumor holds it that the dynamic lighting and shadows plus the bump mapping has gone down. On the 360 version, the resolution is now at an all time low, but I'm sure that'll change for PC no matter what happens (Only games I know DON'T have a resolution change are old, old 2d games.)

First of all, they didnt remove it because the xbox couldnt handle it, i can prove that its not because the new far cry coming out for both pc and 360, has a WAY better graphic-wise version then the computer, 60 FPS- which reportedly no computer games can do- Proof:

and there was another article where bethsoft said they didnt remove it because the 360 couldnt handle it but because the frame rate during the game was getting glitchy in BOTH versions, and they had to remove the "Soft-shadows"(which was having a shadow for everything) and it fixed it.- but i couldnt find that..

Also, if they did make it "worse" because the 360 couldnt handle it, they would just make the pc version have the thing(w/e it was either it was "Soft-shadows or something else) and 360 not have it. Though i do admit PC version will be slightly better because of ability to mod on it.

As far as I know, the PC version and the Xbox 360 versions will both have separate levels of quality. As you know, the 360 version will be a set level and it won't be able to change. This, of course, will be lower than the PC's maximum settings. I think in reading the article either you got mixed up or the writers of the magazine were provided with false information because that just doesn't make any sense. First of all, the recommended requirements for the PC are a 3Ghz processor, 1 GB RAM, and 6800 series vid card or higherhttp://elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_faq.htm. These requirements are not anywhere near the level of the xbox 360 (much higher at that) and proves that not only will the PC version allow you to keep the graphics at the highest level that your computer can handle, but that they will also not be watering down the graphics or any other effects or instances in the game. However, if they do.....I will....I don't know what I'll do. I will probably end up going over to my friends house, taking his Xbox 360, dropkicking it out the window, runnng over it with the lawn mover, shoving some dynamite in it, blowing it up, putting the pieces in a blender and eating the remains. Yeah, I would be pretty pissed.

Im glad that some people realize that regardless of advances, consoles will never touch PC's for graphics and overall ability. The 360 was and is a marketing scam. Microsoft taking advantage of people and the HD generation. I remember my Xbox not playing Elder 3... I called the service line, they told me it MUST BE THE GAME. Right right. Thats why when I borrowed another disc the crashes still happen. They cant admit to it, but Xbox really does suck. Some games are just not meant for console, Elder Scrolls is one of them. Ive waited a long time for this game, I dont want it watered down, I want the whole package.
